About the Book

God expects His children to pray, not just because He wants them to, but that He will answer them. With a refreshing blend of sound scriptural exposition and practical anecdotes, the author of “When Men Stop Praying”, a classic piece on the essence of prayer; and “Christian Attitude Towards Death”, Apostle J.K Bentil shares with you in this insightful piece on “The Method of Prayer”. Follow him carefully and practice the divine principles outlined in this book and your prayer life will never be the same.

I must definitely conclude that Justice Kojo Bentil is a writer of great insight with few but detailed words. When I reviewed his THE SWORD SHALL NOT DEPART FROM YOUR HOUSE, I mentioned that he wrote the book with little content but detailed information. I still stand on that after reading THE METHOD OF PRAYER.

The book consists of an introduction and eight methods of prayer, and again ends with a call to repentance. The introduction gives a Biblical reference to distinguish between the manner one should pray and what the Lord’s Prayer actually is and I quote:

“John 17 was when the Lord prayed for the church. Matthew 6 is more of the Lord teaching us the method of praying. It is the way to pray”.

The subsequent topics are drawn from what we commonly regard as The Lord’s Prayer. Stating the method of prayer these are the eight contents the book dwells on:

  1. Existence
  2. Praise
  3. Authority
  4. Will
  5. Provision
  6. Forgiveness
  7. Deliverance
  8. Thanksgiving

I’ll consider each method discussed as a chapter as they are independently discussed. Each chapter gives the reader a meaning of a line or two of the commonly known ‘Lord’s prayer.’ Since the writer emphasizes that it is the method of prayer, the book tackles that basically.

As I wrote earlier, the book is not bulky but the lessons it carries are. There isn’t much to say on the book. Justice’s books never give me much to write. In short, if all books where to be written as this, I’d always review it with simple one line sentences and I mean that humorously.

I must admit that this book has taught me a greater prayer pattern. Prayer is an important part of every Christian. Christian readers the right way to pray are outlined in this book.  Though there are many prayer books out there, I think this is a must read.

This book is suitable for anyone at all since it is simple to understand. However this book is most suitable for Christians, especially, those struggling with their prayer lives and I definitely give it thumbs up.
